Outings

We have a long tradition of taking children out to stimulate and extend their learning. Trips out are fun. They are also an extension of the School’s work, and are planned and conducted as carefully as the rest of the curriculum.

The safety of the children is of course paramount.

Outings may be small local trips, to the shops or park. We may go further afield, for example to the museums or art galleries, a City farm or country park, places of worship, to develop particular aspects of our work with the children. Over the years we have made the most of the exciting opportunities that come from living in one of the world's great cities, visiting the Science Museum, Tate Modern, The Natural History Museum, Greenwich. The older children go to the pantomime every year at the Hackney Empire, and the younger children to the Polka Theatre.

For all longer trips you will be invited to a pre-trip meeting, with room staff. You will be informed about the educational purposes of the outing, and given clear guidance about what your child may need to bring. You will also have a letter on the SIMs Pay website with similar information. The meeting allows you to explore any aspects of the trip in greater depth.

We always welcome extra help, particularly on longer outings. We are happy to talk to you about how you can be involved.
