Our Keyworker System
Every child has a member of staff who is responsible for monitoring the child’s progress and wellbeing, and for recordkeeping on that child. This keyworker will also take the lead role in settling your child.
This does not mean only the keyworker takes a particular interest in your child, but he or she will make sure that observations are full and up to date, and will be the advocate for your child within the team.
At least once a year your child’s keyworker will arrange a meeting, to discuss your child’s progress at home and in School. We see you as full partners in our planning and assessment systems.
You are also very welcome to meet at other times with your child’s keyworker to talk about what your child is doing at home and at School.
Equally, other staff will be happy to discuss your child with you.
Younger children in Rainbow also have a Co-Worker, who supports your child when the keyworker is not there. The Island groups in Nursery have a co-worker.
Do tell us if you notice at home that your child is developing a new skill or interest. This will help us to plan activities to reinforce and extend this at School.
We need to share information so that your child receives the help and opportunities he or she needs. If there is an area of your child’s development that is causing you or us concern, we can discuss it and plan strategies together that may help.
Sometimes changes or situations at home can affect the way a child behaves at School. If you feel there is something that may affect your child please tell us. We will then be in a better position to respond sensitively and appropriately.
