Full Governing Board

The Governing Board has three core functions. These are to:

  • set the vision and strategic direction of school;
  • hold the headteacher to account for the school's educational performance; and
  • ensure financial resources are well spent.

The Governing Board at Granville Plus ensures it fulfils these responsibilities through a robust process and framework for setting priorities, creating accountability and monitoring progress.

  • There is a 3 year Strategic Plan that sets out strategic targets, (updated annually), which is supplemented by a more detailed annual Operational Plan, which includes detailed Success Criteria, including specific measurable outcomes for children. Progress against the Operational Plan is tracked at Governing Body meetings via the RAG Report.
  • The RAG Report is based on updates to the Headteacher from Senior and Middle Leaders on progress against targets, and also includes the Headteacher's report on the school's performance.
  • Governors supplement the information given at Governing Body meetings with information garnered from their own visits to the school, visit updates from Link Governors, feedback from parents and carers, including from the termly PAC (Parents and Carers) Forum.

There are two Committees that meet regularly and which report into the full Governing Board. They have delegated responsibilities:

FPPC - Finance, Premises and Personnel Committee

CCSOD - Children, Curriculum, Services - Outcomes and Development Committee

The Governing Board also has a Pay Committee and the Headteacher's Performance Management Governors. Other committees are convened as and when need (e.g. Disciplinary, Appeal).
