Horizon is an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for children in their pre school year that have a diagnosis of Autism. It has 11 part time places for children that are entitled to the 15 hours offer. Children entitled to 30 hours are assigned two places.
Our ethos at Granville Plus Nursery School is inclusive; we believe all children should be supported to reach their full potential. For children with Autism this means that we observe them closely to understand their sensory processing needs and plan meaningful learning experiences to help children make progress.
We help the children develop their attention and listening skills through the use of programmes such as; Attention Autism (Bucket Time) and carefully planned activities. We use visuals to help children who are pre-verbal express their choices and understand the routine of the day. To help children develop trust and an interest in other people we use Intensive Interaction. The staffing ratio in Horizon is one member of staff to three children
