Parent Workshops
One-off Workshops
Every term there are one or more Workshops which we very much hope you will attend, on various aspects of children’s learning. These have included workshops on Schemas (Children's Patterns of repeated behaviour), Writing, Managing Behaviour, Mathematics, Literacy, Expressive Arts and Design, or other subjects on request.
Schema Study Group (periodically)
This is a study group over a number of weeks, to share information and ideas about how to support your child’s learning. We use observations, video footage and discussion to explore what your child is doing. Any parent is welcome to attend.
ASD Parents Support Group (monthly)
This is a borough-wide group for parents of children with autism. You don't need to have a child at the school. It is co-facilitated by one of highly skilled Horizon staff and one of Brent's advisory teachers. The programme is decided by the needs of parents attending, but often includes additional speakers on specific areas of interest. For more information please speak to Anastasia in Horizon.
If you have ideas for the focus or organisation of Workshops or Groups please speak to the Extended Services Nursery Officer (Paula).
Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities
Several of the staff are trained as facilitators of this thirteen week programme devised by the Race Equality Foundation. It is an evidence-based parenting programme, designed to promote protective factors which are associated with good parenting and better outcomes for children. Parents who have attended over the years have described it as "life-changing", and we really hope you will join us on the journey to understanding your child and your community.
We run it once a year.
Ask Paula (Extended Services Nursery Officer) for details.
